Personality of the press pass

Leading female  motoring artist Ella Freire has been a popular exhibitor at the Royal Automobile Club’s Art of Motoring for many years . Her large silk screen profiles of the World’s top supercars have found space on the walls of many collectors and motor dealers.

But this year the London-based artist branched out with a new style re-creating in large former classic Pan Am baggage tags . She entered two for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, they were accepted and sold on the first day.

So she asked Exhibition curators Andrew Marriott and Rupert Whyte is she could show further examples at the Art of Mototing.

“We loved them” said Andrew “and they are transport based but not motoring. So I suggested she do ones to city’s with a motor racing connection, like Indianapolis!

“ The next thing we knew was she had taken a similar style but press passes for Grand Prix. It is a great idea, when I started reporting Formula 1 all the passes were different with a personality - now they are just boring hard cards”
